To Hunt or not to Hunt

Did you know that Wear Gray has their own hunt going on around the Sim? Over half the stores on the sim are participating and all you need to do is look for a small grey ribbon.

Each store that is participating in the hunt has our hunt sign located in their store.

Ribbons are only located in the stores that have the signs shown. Some have 1 ribbon and some have more. When you get the ribbon it will be labelled as 'Wear Gray Hunt Item - 1 of....' to tell you how many to look for.

There are some terrific items in the hunt ribbons. Some of our bloggers - click their links to the left - have written about them so you can see just what you are hunting for.

Wear Gray's Stage

It's update time, so we thought we should tell you all about the central stage at the Market. During set-up stage for Wear Gray we approached Further Monday and Fang Roffo, owner's of !Weather or Not?, enquiring about a build for a central stage.

For anyone that visited Operation Squeegee this year and saw the central stage there, you will know why we went straight to them. Further and Fang pride themselves on their unique designs, attention to detail and sculpties. Whilst the stage is specific for Wear Grays events, it holds many other uses. During a conversation with Further at set up, I mentioned that it would look cute as a garden accessory as well. So that was the focus for my picture. To give you inspiration to see it another setting, other than a stage with a DJ booth and advertising.

The stage itself is a low 31 prims with an extra prim shadow. Not only is it great as a stage when you want to fit in what you need but not take up too much room for dancers, it's just perfect for those backyard or beach-side decks, with a table and chairs and maybe some potted plants.

The stage is available at !WorN?'s Wear Gray store and is exclusive to the Wear Gray Market. So get it while it's there. Their store is right next to the central stage at Wear Gray.

Our thanks go to Further and Fang for the hard work and effort they put in to this stage, and for donating it to Wear Gray for our central stage.

Lastly, a quick update on our totals - $384, 108L. We're over the moon at the generous amounts of donations coming in.

Don't forget, the Wear Gray stage is only available at the Market, now through till September 25th.

There was a break in the DJ events today, the auctions still going strong through the day though.

There was however some entertainment, of a different kind.

It seems that no good charity event is free from people deciding to run amok. Today was only day three and we had the pleasure of ejecting and banning an individual that was acting very inappropriately.

Did this stop us having an awesome day in sales and donations?....no way! We are still going strong as ever with tonight's tally for the end of day three sitting at

$354, 807L

And with a third lot of auctions under way we hope to boost that amount even more. Don't forget merchants. If your items are up for auction, make sure to let your VIP's in your groups know. After all, they are one of a kind designs that they may want to grab.

The Tips Are Getting Bigger

Today was Day 2 of the Wear Gray Market and DJ Marcus was on fire. Not only did Marcus kindly donate his time and tips to Wear Gray, he also put out the offer that he would match the tips received in our Wear Gray donation jar up to $5,000L. Thanks to the generosity of those dancing away and listening to Marcus set, the $5,000 was soon reached, and true to his word Marcus then added $5,000 to the jar as well. It was so heart-warming to see a donation sitting there with $10,000 just from one event, and with not even an hour having passed.

Now the Market is on a Mature sim. But that doesn't mean we condone people just wandering around half naked. There are after all childrens stores and children avatars wandering around. After a quick scan of the sim and the people attending it was seen to be an all adult crowd. And to liven things up and help get in more donations for ABTA.....

A challenge is set forth:

And we sit back and watch the donations roll in. It seems people want to see skin! But what about the guys in the crowd you ask?....Well never fear gentlemen -

Sanura Snowpaw: I'll tell you what for the guys to have incentive to donate I'll strip to my bra and panties if we hit 15K also

Our very own Organiser jumped in to help boost donations. Marcus set the challenge at 8.16pm and by 8.26pm we hit $15,000

Not only did Marcus' first challenge of reaching $5,000 get smashed. But the second challenge of reaching $15,000 was blown out of the water with our eventual tally for the evening reaching a whopping $19,000.

So our lovely white kitteh and our DJ stud got down to their briefs and partied hard with the crowd. Lets not forget Sanura passing out in shock a few times and having to take a lay down in the grass from the generosity of everyone around.

And with an end to the 2 hour event, we are absolutely stunned at the progress of our total donations so far.

Thank you to everyone who came and danced the night away. Thank you to Marcus for his generous tips and to those who helped us reach a phenomenal amount in those 2 hours.

Day one ends with happy tears

Day one of the Wear Gray Market and Sanura and Arora are bouncing around high on happiness. Even before the sim was opened for business we had received more donations that we thought possible, thanks to the merchants participating in Wear Gray having donation jars and Wear Gray Vendors in their stores.

After just 18 hours of open trading we beat last years totals of $212, 524L. Day one wasn't even over and we had outdone all of last years efforts!!!

8pm rolled around and our first DJ for the Market, Alicia Chenaux rocked the sim for two hours bringing in more donations. Alicia donated all tips for her set using a Wear Gray Donation jar instead of her own. Thank you ever so much for your generosity Alicia and for helping us open with a bang.

With midnight now upon us and a new day about to begin in the market we count up our totals and can't wipe the grin from our faces. It's only just begun, but we are so happy to announce that our donations so far have reached $257, 574L.

We would like to thank everyone who has donated, purchased items or even just visited to show their support. It means the world to us, and to those, whose lives are going to be affected for the better, by our eventual donation to ABTA at the end of the Market.

The Wear Gray Market has opened it's doors and is ready to raise some serious funds for the American Brain Tumor Association.

Take your limo right to the centre of the market. To help everyone have as close to a lag free shopping experience as possible, you'll be offered a Lag Reducing Tips note card on landing. There are some very helpful hints in there and also some myth-busters. You'll probably be surprised that what you normally thought was a great lag reducer - actually isn't =) One of the helpful ideas is sitting on a prim and editing/moving yourself around. It's a lot easier when the lag monster strikes to just slide around on a prim. So to help you with that you'll see a stack of boxes where you land. They have been set so anyone can use them, so grab a prim, park your tush....and enjoy shopping sitting down for a change. (oh and psst a little fairy told me they are also set for sale with freebie gifts inside).

The central area includes banners from our merchants who have their stores in the market. Each sign has the LM to their main store, just touch and go. Their are also banners scattered around the sim. As you can see we have a lot of designers sponsoring this very worthwhile cause. It is so fantastic to see so many people getting behind it.

Just behind you when arriving are the auction boards. During the two weeks of the Market there will be three items, donated from the merchants of Wear Gray, that will be auctioned off in the bid boxes. These will run for 24 hours and the highest bidder will automatically be sent the item upon closing. 100% of the profits raised from these auctions goes towards Wear Gray supporting the American Brain Tumor Association. The auction details can be found on our Events page.

The stage area was kindly designed and donated by Weather! or Not?. At a low 31 prims it looks absolutely fantastic. If you love it as much as we do - pop over to !WorN?'s Wear Gray store and grab one. It's only available at Wear Gray as an exclusive, so don't leave it till the last minute. There are 10 DJ's lined up over the course of the two weeks that will be appearing at Wear Gray and performing at the central stage. Created in honor of my Mom who I lost 4 years ago.

Leigh is a sensual flowing long dress with contrasting bodice panels and decorative rhinestone clips! Magoa has produced 8 new and exclusive items. Three of them will be sold at 100% for the American Brain Tumor Association. ALL other Magoa products displayed on the sim will give 20% of their profits as well, including the other 5 new and exclusive Wear Gray items.

The women's set includes a set of bangles, a grouping of necklaces with beads, cords and pendant, and two matching earrings that mirror the pendant plus include flexi dangles.The men's set includes a choker-style necklace of braided leather and stone, plus two styles of cuffs/bracers, one of each style for Right and Left handed-wear. This outfit is called Dusk and it's for the boys. It's a gray jacket with sculpted sleeves and collar as well as a hoodie sculpt that can replace the collar to transform the outfit into something more comfy. Jacket includes a sculpted bottom to add volume to the jacket as well as a belt for style. Outfit also comes with a stand alone belt, if that is preferred. Included is a white undershirt/tank if it gets too hot and tartan gray shorts with sculpted cuffs. It is Mod for the prims and some prims with resizer script as well. Along with these stores we have 4 donation stores scattered around the Market. These stores were paid for and then donated to Wear Gray for those that can't fill a store themselves but would love the opportunity to showcase an item or two for Wear Gray.

These Donation Stores will be specifically for items that are 100% profit donated to Wear Gray. Store owners that already have a store space on the sim will be given the opportunity to place ONE vendor in a donation store. This may benefit those that have a sim on the east side of the sim and want to place an item on the west side donation store. Please note though that these stores are specifically aimed at the little stores around the grid that couldn't possibly get a store themselves so this is a chance for them to show us what they have by donating via the donation stores. If you have not got a store already organised at Wear Gray but would be interested in placing a vendor in a donation store (or know of someone who might) please contact either Sanura Snowpaw or Arora Zanzibar for details. For store owners already at Wear Gray please let Sanura or Arora know if you would like to place an extra vendor in the donation store so we can keep a track of prim allocations.

With only a month to go, it's all hands on deck! Wear Gray 2010 has a brand new sparkly logo. With many thanks to Amisha March and Sanura Snowpaw who, together, came up with this awesome new design.

If you are reading this post then you will notice Wear Gray has had a blog facelift. A few minor tweaks and probably more to come as we get closer to the date. If this is your first visit - Welcome! Be sure to check out the pages at the top for information on our affiliated charity Organisation - American Brain Tumor Association. There is also information on how you can donate.

As we are drawing closer to the date we have put out a call for bloggers who would like to blog for Wear Gray. If you are interested or know of a blogger who might be please send your details (SL Name and Blog URL) to either Sanura Snowpaw or Arora Zanzibar.

Store owners - don't forget you can upload pictures of your Wear Gray items to our flickr page (link in the links page). And bloggers if you feature any Wear Gray items you too can share the pics via our flickr page.

Wear Gray Market is filling up fast with the current confirmed shops attending sitting at 108. That leaves only 26 store spaces(13 large, 75prims & 13 small, 30 prims) available. Wear Gray 2010 Invitation September 12th - 25th

We would like to extend an invitation to all designers to join us for Wear Gray 2010.

This year the Wear Gray will be a full sim wide market of creators new and old. We anticipate this years fundraiser to be twice as big as last year and just as rewarding to the charity we are affiliated with. This year we will be donating all proceeds to the American Brain Tumor Association. We would love to invite you to come along and join in this fantastic event.

There are a couple of choices for you to consider:

**Stores available and donation amounts to join.**

a) Small market store (56 available) - $250L
20 x 7.5m store & 30 prims allocation

b) Large market store (78 available) - $580L
40 x 15m store & 75 prims allocation

**Please note your donation payment needs to go to official Treasury Account – “WearGray Button”**

These donations are to cover the cost of the sim. You are welcome to donate more if you want which will benifit Wear Gray with placing ads on the major feeds, classifieds, and any other costs, with any extra going directly to the American Brain Tumor Association. Full tranaction history will be made avaliable to anyone who requests it from Sanura Snowpaw.

*** HOW TO APPLY ***

All we require is that you have **at least** two (preferrably four) items for sale that benefit Wear Gray. We will provide you with the vendor for these items prior to the set-up dates. A group invitation to the "Wear Gray for a Day" group will be sent when your application is processed & donation received. This donation needs to be sent directly to our official Treasury Account – “WearGray Button”. The group invite can also be sent to an alt for holding but you yourself will need to be added for access to the fairgrounds before and for rez rights, you will just need to let us know who to send the invite to in your application.

Please note your items do NOT have to be gray in color and I would love to see a rainbow of colors. There is only so much gray a person can wear and I would hate to limit anyone to only one color. Also all items to benifit Wear Gray must be exclusive, they can be an exclusive color or style but only limited to this event.

Please go here and complete your online registration request. There is a section in the application to include your transaction details from your donation, please make sure you include this to secure your store. Stores will be allocated in order of application and donation received.

Hello everyone it's that time of year again and we are getting ready to kick of Wear Gray 2010. This years donations will be going to benefit The American Brain Tumor Association or ABTA.

I hope you will join us this year September 12-25 for two grands weeks of shopping, events, and even an auction or two.

Due to over whelming response and after talking with the content creators we decided to extend Wear Gray for the month of October. Not only that but N.A.I.L Productions will be hosting all vendors for Wear Gray on one sim.

We have some wonderful events planed for the month including a fashion show on Oct 16th at 7pm slt for all "Wear Gray" designers hosted conjunction with VR Style; Silverstar Modeling Agency and N.A.I.L productions.

There is also going to be a trick or treat hunt that will be lasting the whole month.

And my favorite event will be on the 22nd. A Fair To Remember. With lots of special activities as well, we will be lining the walkways with candles or lanterns in remembrance of those we have lost to cancer be it brain cancer or any other cancer.

Designers and Stores

We at Wear Gray are trying to find designers/vendors who may be willing to help us in Wear Gray For A Day to support Brain Cancer Awareness. We appreciate any help you maybe able to offer may it be by creating something with proceeds going towards charity (this does NOT have to be grey but we would prefer it to be exclusive), We also have a banner we would also appreciate if you could place in your store. If you feel you can not do an item even placing the banner would be wonderful, or anything else you can think of that you would like to do to help out.

All proceeds will go to The American Cancer Society. We will have FULL transaction history avaliable on request from Sanura Snowpaw.

We are hoping for the item to be out for the entire month of September but if it can't be we ask for it to for sure be out on the 18th.

We have a blog that will show a photo of your item and where to get it as well as a notice sent out in the Wear Gray group which as a vendor you will be able to send out yourself as well. We will also be sending a notice out once a week to Fashion Consolidated and a few other groups as well.

What is Wear Gray?

Well on September 18, 2009 there is a collective of people that are going to wear gray in support of brain cancer awareness. when I saw this it touched my heart because at the time my RL cousin was battling brain cancer and had been for 10 years and was nearing the end of his battle, he has since lost his battle.

So I made a free tee shirt that can be found at *Dreams* and a dear friend Prue Genira blogged about it and things started to roll from there. I had other stores wanting to help, Amisha March Created an AWESOME banner. I also found a few more people that were extremely interested in helping out and finding more stores so we now have a team of organizers and some wonderful stores (which we will feature later).

After trying to contact a few RL brain cancer charities with no response we decided that we would have all proceeds go to The American Cancer Society.

Our organizers are the wonderful Sanura Snowpaw (myself), Colorful Sinister, Prue Genira Kali Jetcity. If you have any questions or wish to become more involved you can contact any of us and we will be sure to include you.

We also have an in world group Wear Gray For A Day that you are welcome to join and invite people into as well.
